“I Don’t Know This Person”: The Stranger Challenge

So I have been trying to do a few things out of the ordinary to mainly curb boredom and help me break from my comfort zone. Hence, the Stranger Challenge. The rules of the challenge were for me to make a sign saying “I don’t know this person” and ask a stranger to hold it and then take a selfie with me.

Meeting Carol Ann, the first subject of the #strangerchallenge, Β the other day was incredible. She was sitting eating something and I had just bought a coffee and was looking for a captive audience for my “strangerselfie” challenge. I asked if she had a minute. To which she replied “Yes.” Stunned, as I was not expecting a yes from the first person I asked, I stammered a little to ask her if she would take a selfie with me while holding a sign stating “I don’t know this person!” We did not know each others names until I had taken the selfie. Which puts me within the rules of the challenge.

I told her about how I quit video games and was recapturing my life. Taking risks again. Resuming it. Hence “Life Resumed”, I felt like I was in such a time warp. She understood exactly what I was talking about. Said that I sounded like I’d just come from an AA meeting. Addicts sound the same everywhere it seems. We talked for only a short time but crossed such vast distance. I really connected with her and it was incredible. Two strangers talked over coffee. I want more of this. I made the point that we are the ones, those of us alive and reading this, that have to save the world. We have to change. Change the way that we eat, live and treat each other.

  1. I love this! I give you both kudos! You for stepping outside your comfort zone and her for being friendly to a complete stranger! πŸ‘πŸ»πŸ‘πŸ»πŸ‘πŸ»
